Not long after the 2007 event ended, Busch Gardens started teasing something bigger and bloodier on its website. Bolstered by a major online marketing push, including a domain dedicated exclusively to its icons, Howl-O-Scream returned in grand, grisly style. The formerly conjoined Raven Twins proved to be the park’s most popular mascots in years, scoring so well with fans that they were voted back for a cameo in 2015. The three new houses struck a common, violent chord. Reconstruction: The Doctor Is In, the first non-3D house in the Akbar’s Adventure Tours building, traded an old gimmick for fresh gore. The previous year’s unofficial roving hordes were promoted to official roving hordes, making up for a reduction to three scare zones. If Howl-O-Scream used to be PG-13, in 2008, it finally earned the R.
