After 19 years of fear, Howl-O-Scream could sell itself. With the addition of Insomnia and Simon’s Slaughterhouse, the event found a line-up to last, even if it wasn’t as big as it used to be. As Busch Gardens expanded, Howl-O-Scream shrunk, dropping from seven haunted houses to six on account of the construction. To balance out the terror, six scare zones dotted the park, five of them brand new. In a cross between marketing gimmick and fair warning, Simon’s Slaughterhouse and the surrounding Meat Market scarezone were branded with a soft age limit of 17-and-up due to their depicted carnage.
